This link leads to a video explaining all of the main fundamentals like squash and stretch and secondary action and etc..

In maya I have learnt to have the animation in real-time to allow for more realistic movement and space to pose. That also leads into me understanding of the posing individual parts to the object that links to another rather than focus on different things all at once, I have found out more of a process but I am still trying to understand in between key frames for more movement.
